RIM together with Vodafone mobile operator has just officially announced BlackBerry 9520 Storm 2. In contrast to its predecessor this coming smartphone has some improvements such as SurePress technology support that makes text inputting easier. The list of technical characteristics also looks better – 3.25 inch capacitive touch screen with 360×480 px resolution and 65K colors, 3.2 Mp camera with image stabilization and LED flash, 256 Mb RAM, 2 Gb built –in memory, microSDHC card slot (up to 32 Gb), Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 3.5 mm audio jack, GPS with A-GPS support, accelerometer and 1400 mAh battery. The operating system is BlackBerry OS 5. It is also notable that together with GSM version RIM will provide CDMA version of device for other mobile operators. BlackBerry 9520 Storm 2 will become available in Europe by the end of this month.

Chinese HiPhone company is know as iPhone’s clones producer. But recently it announced HiPhone F06-Slim which is clone of BlackBerry Storm. The design is very similar to original one but the set of technical characteristics is not so impressive. This mobile device has 3.2 inch touch screen with 240×320 px resolution and 256K colors, 1.3 Mp camera, Bluetooth, Wi-FiFM radio, TV tuner and microSD card slot. As many other Chinese phones this one supports dual SIM card mode and works with GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. The price of HiPhone F06-Slim is $190.

RIM has just officially announced its new BlackBerry Tour smartphone. This device features impressive set of technical characteristics and both GSM/UMTS and CDMA networks support. The design of this mobile device is typical for BlackBerry phones – it has horizontal screen and QWERTY keyboard. As many other present-day smartphones this one has pre-installed applications to work with social networks and blogs. As it was said before the list of technical features looks good – 2.44 inch screen with 480×360 px resolution and 65K colors, 3.2 Mp camera with autofocusing, 256 Mb memory, microSD card slot (up to 32 Gb), Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, 3.5 mm audio jack and GPS module. BlackBerry Tour will become available in next few weeks.

It is expected that Canadian Research in Motion company will introduce some new devices this year. One of them is BlackBerry Storm 2 which photos have just appeared in the global network. In contrast to its predecessor this mobile phone has thinner case and sensory buttons under the screen. BlackBerry Storm 2 also has 3.2 Mp camera, Wi-Fi and GPS. It is said that this mobile device will be officially announced this fall and will be released by the end of this year.

In the October it was rumored that Research in Motion company is going to introduce BlackBerry Curve 8350i. So recently Sprint mobile operator officially announced this mobile device. As many other RIM’s phones it has classic shape factor and QWERTY keyboard, track ball and horizontal screen. Curve 8350i mobile phone has all necessary modules that present day mobile devices need: 2 Mp camera, Wi-Fi and GPS modules, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and microSD memory card slot. The screen supports 240×320 px resolution and 65k colors. BlackBerry Curve 8350i will cost $150 with two year contract.

At last RIM (Research In Motion) company introduced BlackBerry Storm which is the first touch screen smartphone of this company. Almost all control functions are performed by means of touch user interface. There is even haptic response technology support not to mention gestures recognition. Due to built in accelerometer this mobile phone switches screen orientation automatically. Depending on the mode you can use SureType or QWERTY keyboard. HTML browser also supports horizontal and vertical mode. Among technical features we can mark out 3.25 inch touch screen with 480×360 px resolution, 3.2 Mp camera, GPS module, 1 Gb built in memory, 1400 mAh battery, microSD card slot, 3.5 mm audio jack and Bluetooth (A2DP/AVRCP). BlackBerry Storm will be introduced in two variants. BlackBerry Storm 9530 is for US mobile market and will support. CDMA EV-DO Revision A, UMTS/HSPA (2100 MHz) and EDGE/GPRS/GSM. European version will support UMTS/HSPA (2100 MHz) and EDGE/GPRS/GSM

Research In Motion company officially introduced it first BlackBerry clamshell smartphone. BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 was known under the code name of KickStart. One of the most interesting features is UMA technology support which provides “sutureless” roaming between usual and Wi-Fi networks. Large external screen displays information about missed calls, emails and text messages. Other features of this new mobile phone are:

• GSM/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
• SureType keyboard
• 2 Mp camera with flash gun and digital zoom
• microSD card slot
• size 99×48x17.7 mm

CrackBerry source published review of if first BlackBerry clamshell phone – 8220 KickStart. According to source RIM is going to produce another clamshell phone – 8210 SeaWolf with built in GPS module. BlackBerry 8220 KickStart and BlackBerry 8210 SeaWolf are identical with the exception of this GPS navigator function. To compensate this disadvantage KickStart mobile phone has Wi-Fi. It said that BlackBerry 8220 will be available for T-Mobile clients. The date of official release is September.
